The City is Not Only Human; it is a multispecies urban installation located in Plaza Escuelas Trevijano, in Logroño. The main goal of this proposal is to raise awareness among its visitors that the design of cities and public spaces should not merely respond to anthropocentric concerns, as humans are not the only urban actors inhabiting cities.
After identifying the primary residents of the environment, a catalog of Plug-In Artifacts is created, acting as intermediaries between the beings that inhabit the space and their respective actions. These artifacts form a series of independent Urban Elements, which provide the foundation for the intervention, allowing interaction between species. The distribution of various elements leads to Interspecies Devices, which catalyze the blend of relationships occurring within the installation.
The proposal challenges the conventional notion of anthropocentric public space, weaving a network of connections between architecture and native biodiversity, fostering environments where the city is not just for humans, but for all beings that cohabit and call Logroño home.
La Ciudad No es Solo Humana es una instalación urbana multiespecie, situada en la Plaza Escuelas Trevijano, en Logroño. La propuesta tiene como principal objetivo concienciar a sus visitantes, que el diseño de las ciudades y espacios públicos no deberían responder meramente a cuestiones antropocéntricas, al no ser los humanos, los únicos actores urbanos que habitamos las ciudades.
Tras identificar los principales residentes del entorno, se elabora un catálogo de Artefactos Plug-In que actúan como intermediarios entre los seres que lo habitan y sus acciones respectivas. El conjunto de estos artefactos forma una serie de Elementos Urbanos independientes, que generan el soporte de la intervención, permitiendo la interacción entre especies. La distribución de varios elementos desencadena en Dispositivos Interespecie, que catalizan la amalgama de relaciones que ocurren en la instalación.
La propuesta desafía la noción convencional del espacio público antropocéntrico, tejiendo una red de conexiones entre la arquitectura y la biodiversidad autóctona, fomentando entornos donde la ciudad no solo es para humanos, sino para todos los seres que cohabitan y llaman hogar a Logroño.
